Lucy Wagner

Lucy Wagner is a first year Master’s student in Materials Engineering. She graduated in the Spring of 2023 with a B.S. in MSE. During her undergraduate studies, she served as the Marketing Director on the GEARE Executive Board for four semesters and has been continuously involved with OPP assisting in communications. She now serves as a Graduate Assistant, focusing on developing marketing materials and supporting student engagement efforts throughout the school year.

She has worked with Caterpillar as an engineering intern in the Metallurgical Lab at the Large Engine Center in Lafayette, IN. At her time at Caterpillar, Lucy worked alongisde other engineers performing failure analysis on large engine parts. She used various testing methods, such as magnetic particle inspection, tensile testing, and scanning electron microscopy, to ensure parts passed specifications.

She also participated in Purdue's Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program, focusing on hydration in human bone samples that have been exposed to various pharmaceutical treatments.
